Los Angeles Center Hosts Electronics Recycling Program
On Sunday, March 4, the Los Angeles center hosted a free electronics recycling program in partnership with Living Green Recycling (, a local non-profit recycling organization. The event took place on the same day as the March monthly ceremony. After the ceremony, Living Green Recycling arrived with a 15-foot truck to collect electronics, such as unwanted computers, monitors, laptops, and other electronic devices for environmentally responsible recycling. An area of the parking lot was designated for the recycling truck.
Prior to the event, both the Los Angeles Sukyo Mahikari center and Living Green Recycling advertised the program in the city of Rancho Santa Margarita, where the Los Angeles center is located, passing out fliers to the community and posting banners around the center. The event was considered to be a great success, as many members from the area centers in Los Angeles, Pasadena, and Torrance brought electronics, and many people came from the community to drop off their e-waste. People from the community expressed appreciation to both Sukyo Mahikari and Living Green Recycling for providing an important community service.
The Los Angeles center plans to continue this partnership with Living Green Recycling by offering this program every three months.
